Uchegbu reaffirms his commitment to transform Izombe clan in Imo
The Federal Commissioner representing Imo state in Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr Kyrian Uchegbu has reassured Izombe clan of his willingness to transform the community.
He stated this while playing host to the leaders of the community in his office at Owerri on Thursday 20th February 2025.
He said: “Today will mark a remarkable date in the history of Izombe clan as the well meaning sons and daughters of Izombe clan of four Autonomous Communities paid a resounding solidarity and courtesy visit to my office.
This visit is so historic because the Izombe Central Union, the supreme coordinating center for the four Autonomous Communities which were meticulously selected; well meaning leaders across the Constituent communities of the clan came to see me.
The Izombe Central Union which prudently articulated all the needs of the clan and did not forget the abandoned projects by NDDC in the clan into a well arranged presentation in one document was present.”
The delegation enormously thanked the Commissioner for his sterling leadership and his invaluable contributions towards attracting meaningful development in the Clan.
The Federal Commissioner also noted that Izombe clan was captured in the operation light up Niger Delta earlier because, there’s someone like him from the clan in the commission.
The delegates urged the Commissioner to come to their aid and rehabilitate the articulated abandoned projects as contained in their paper.
The projects are
1. The completion of the ongoing Operation Light Up Niger Delta in all parts of the nook and cranny of the clan.
2. Building of Izombe Clan Civic Center,
3. Expansion and the provision of drainage system in Ogbafor Market.
3. The completion of the abandoned building projects in Izombe FMC annex.
Others are :
4. The completion of
Ndiuloukwu -Umuocha Road.
5. Ndiawa -Awa Road
6. Umuokwu -Mgbele road.
7.Eziama internal road
8. Amakpuredere -Uba Road , including Ndionwanibe -Ndiawa -Umuokwu road and
9. Umuama- Infotec road.
In his response, the Federal Commissioner commended the leadership of the Clan for their thoughtfulness in planning and execution of this all important visit to his office.
Hon Uchegbu assured the clan of his preparedness to ensure not only build a modern Civic Center but a modern comprehensive center befitting a Clan of Izombe status.
The Federal Commissioner also promised to renovate and expand the Ogbafor Market.
“For the abandoned projects, such as Izombe regional water scheme, structure in the Izombe FMC annex and all the roads which were abandoned are all captured in the current budget for completion”, he noted.
Uchegbu further advised the leadership of the Clan to properly articulate all their Infrastructural needs and submit same before 5 working days.
On the area of human capital development, he told the delegation that the commission has more than enough for Youth empowerment and human capital development.
Hon Dr Uchegbu, continued as he called on our teaming Youths population to embrace agriculture as he’ll assist them both in financing and other necessary expertise.
The Commissioner cautioned the youths against attitudes of quick wealth syndrome, kidnapping and other social vices capable of destroying their future.
Hon Dr Uchegbu urged the people of Izombe to embrace peace, because in the absence of peace, no contractor will agree to embark on any job not to talk of completing it.
He used the opportunity to drum support for the government of His Excellencies, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hope Uzodmma and the 7th Board of NDDC as the best thing to have happened in Niger Delta region
