Udom Commissions Power Sub-Station, New Road, Civic Centre
As parts of his activities on infrastructural consolidation and expansion, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is set commission some life-touching projects executed by his administration, this Tuesday.
The projects include the Nda Nsit- Ikot Abasi –Ibesikpo Road and the 33/11KV, 2X15MVA Injection Substation along Nsikak Eduok Avenue in Uyo.
Governor Emmanuel who dropped the hint during his reception by the Ibibio people at the ancestral arena, Asan Ibibio in Uyo on Monday, said he was committed to fulfilling his promises to the people of the state.
He said that presently the state power plant generates 150 megawatt of electricity, “tomorrow if you join me I am going to commission a power station that people will look and ask if it is a federal government project.”
He said his administration is poised to do more for the people of the state saying his government does not discriminate against political inclination, ethnic differences or religious denomination.
“God brought us to serve the people and the people of Akwa Ibom we will serve.”
On the Nsit Atai road project, Mr Emmanuel said that he would commission the road to open up the area after several years.
He also narrated his interventions in the secondary health sector of the state, saying his administration has revamped the general hospitals that were in a poor state.
“The secondary health care facilities are springing up everywhere and my people were asking me to commission an ultramodern General Hospital in Etinan, I told Etinan people that is the kind of project I want the Acting President to commission so Etinan people don’t worry that is why I am here to serve the people.”
The Governor will use the visit to Nsit Atai to also commission a civic centre at Idiaba.
At the Ibibio reception carnival, the Governor sued for love and unity among the people of the state, on the premise “that even during the Era of Ibibio Union, there was nothing like Annang or Oro all of us, we were under one umbrella called Ibibio Union.”
The reception for Governor Emmanuel at the Asan Ibibio, turned into an endorsement carnival of some sort as every ethnic group, senatorial district and the royal institutions in the state mainly from the Ibibio stock rose in unison to endorse Governor Emmanuel for a second term in office.
At an event, chaired by a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Nsikak Eduok, it was unanimously agreed that the governor was the best for the state, and deserved the general support of all to lead the state for eight years.
Goodwill messages were also received from three governors from other states, including Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, who all congratulated the governor on the massive support he was enjoying from his people.
