At least four people were killed and seven others injured on Monday after Ukrainian drones struck several Russian regions, with the deadliest attack reported in the Moscow region, Russian officials said.
The latest strikes come as Kyiv intensifies its long-range drone campaign, targeting military and energy infrastructure deep inside Russia in response to more than four years of sustained Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said three people were killed and three others wounded after a drone crashed in the settlement of Pionersky in the Istra district.
He added that two more people were injured in a separate incident elsewhere in the region, while Russian air defence systems intercepted 81 drones over the Moscow area overnight.
In Russia’s border region of Belgorod, authorities said a woman was killed in a drone strike on the town of Berezovka, while two men were wounded in a separate attack on the village of Krinichnoye.
Further south, drones also targeted the Stavropol region, igniting a fire at an industrial facility in the Vyazniki area of Shpakovsky district.
Regional Governor Vladimir Vladimirov said emergency crews and firefighters were quickly deployed to contain the blaze, adding that no casualties had been reported.
“The drone threat remains in effect across the entire region. Residents should stay alert and exercise caution,” he said in a post on Telegram.
The latest attacks came as Ukraine’s Western allies gathered in Paris on Monday to discuss new ways to increase pressure on Russia and revive efforts to end the war.
Diplomatic initiatives led by the United States have largely stalled in recent months as Washington shifted much of its attention to the escalating conflict with Iran.
