ASABA, DELTA – A governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, Dr Emmanuel Usiwoghene Unuafe, has called for unity among party members in Delta State following recent national developments within the party.
He made the call during an interview on Friday in Asaba, where he urged stakeholders and supporters to close ranks and work collectively toward strengthening the party’s position ahead of future elections.
He described the ongoing court proceedings involving the African Democratic Congress as a significant step forward that reinforces the legitimacy and growing momentum of the party at the national level.
He stated that the outcome of the legal process signals a turning point for the party, one that requires renewed dedication and strategic alignment from members across all levels.
He emphasized that while national progress remains encouraging, the responsibility now lies with state chapters to consolidate gains through unity, discipline, and shared purpose.
He urged party members in Delta State to rise above internal differences and focus on building a strong and cohesive political structure capable of delivering electoral success.
He noted that division within political parties often weakens their chances during elections, stressing that unity remains the most effective tool for achieving victory.
He highlighted the importance of collective action, insisting that only a united front can translate the party’s national momentum into tangible results at the state level.
Political observers have noted that calls for unity often emerge during periods of internal restructuring or legal disputes within political parties.
They have explained that such moments present both challenges and opportunities for parties seeking to redefine their identity and strengthen internal cohesion.
The African Democratic Congress has experienced internal leadership disputes in recent times, prompting court interventions to determine legitimate authority within the party.
These disputes have drawn national attention, particularly as political actors begin early positioning ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
Analysts have argued that how the party manages its internal challenges will play a crucial role in shaping its future electoral prospects.
They have stressed that strong leadership and unity at the grassroots level remain essential for building voter confidence and expanding political influence.
In Delta State, political competition has historically been intense, with major parties investing heavily in grassroots mobilisation and alliance-building.
Experts say emerging parties like the African Democratic Congress must prioritize unity and strategic coordination to compete effectively against more established rivals.
Unuafe reiterated that the current moment represents an opportunity for transformation within the party, urging members to embrace cooperation over conflict.
He maintained that unity serves as the foundation for progress, adding that collective commitment will determine the party’s success in future elections.
He concluded that with shared vision and disciplined engagement, the party can harness its growing momentum to move Delta State forward and deliver meaningful change to the people.
