UPDATED: Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ohanaeze PG is dead

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is dead.

The spokesman of the Igbo group, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, confirmed the unfortunate death on Thursday in Enugu.

He said, “Today is a bad day for Ndigbo. It’s true! Ahaeji aga Mba is gone. Ohaneze has yet to issue an official statement on the demise of our President General, Chief Iwuanyanwu, but he is gone”.

He died at the age of 82.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a prominent Nigerian businessman, politician, and philanthropist known for his contributions to various sectors, particularly in the Igbo community and beyond.

The Imo born Igbo leader was elected as the president-general of Ohanaeze on April 20, 2023, following the sudden death of his predecessor, professor George Obiozor.
