The leader of Igbo Youths in Diaspora has charged the federal government to arrest controversial Islamic cleric, Sheik Gumi for taking side with terrorists.

Chukwuemeziem Ekete while reacting to the comment attributed to Gumi where he urged Nigerian government to end relations with the United States of America for attacking terrorists, said that Gumi has no moral stand to criticise the strikes and should be arrested.

“Why is Gumi still allowed to make incendiary statements?. Why is he allowed to aid terrorists?. We have come to the stage we can’t allow terrorist supporters to have their ways because they abet crimes.

“We are all aware that Christians are targeted in Nigeria. The statistics are there and they are mind-blowing. These terrorists kidnap our children and blur Nigeria’s image before the eyes of the international community, why then must they be verbally abetted?

“It is funny that when United States of America decided to help Nigeria by getting rid of these terrorists, Gumi who has served as the godfather of terrorists decided to speak against US action to save Christians.

“Igbo Youths in Diaspora support the action of President Donald Trump and hopes that the action is sustained until terrorists are exterminated. Terrorists have no place in this civilised world and Gumi must understand that.

“Federal government of Nigeria must be commended for collaborating with the United States to making sure terrorists are targeted.

“Intelligence sharing is important to sustain the effort and ensure that civilians are not affected by the move.

Ekete concluded by urging the federal government to use the opportunity and forge a strong intelligence community with United States to reap the gains of the strike.
