Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet has been removed from a United States aircraft sales platform, raising fresh questions about its sale.

The jet had been listed for months but is no longer accessible online.

Checks by Politics Nigeria confirmed that the aircraft’s profile, photos, and specifications have disappeared from the marketing firm’s website.

Laurie Barringer, the company’s Manager of Market Research, confirmed via email that the firm “no longer has the listing on the Boeing.”

She directed further inquiries to the Nigerian government. No explanation was given for the delisting.

Previously, representatives had stated that the jet was still available on the market. They declined to provide additional details, citing proprietary restrictions.

Before the removal, records indicated that the presidential aircraft underwent refurbishment and technical inspections in July 2024 at a Basel facility.

The work included first-class seating upgrades, new cabin carpets, and completion of major C1 and C2 maintenance checks.

Aviation experts estimate a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ of similar configuration to be worth around $56 million, depending on usage history and maintenance records.

The Nigerian jet, purchased in 2005 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo for roughly $43 million, has been part of the Presidential Air Fleet for nearly 20 years.

In July 2025, the administration of President Bola Tinubu announced plans to sell the jet.

The decision aimed to reduce costs and streamline the presidential fleet, which has faced public criticism over maintenance and operational expenses.

As of press time, officials connected to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), which oversees the Presidential Air Fleet, have not commented on the delisting. It remains unclear whether the government has reversed its decision or is reconsidering the sale strategy.

The removal of Nigeria’s presidential jet from the sales platform has sparked speculation among aviation experts, political observers, and the public.

Many are questioning whether internal or external factors influenced the sudden withdrawal.

Observers note that the jet’s delisting comes amid heightened scrutiny of government spending and ongoing efforts to modernize Nigeria’s air assets. Analysts say clarification from the government is essential to avoid uncertainty about the fate of the presidential aircraft.

With millions of dollars at stake and public attention focused on transparency, the presidential jet’s status remains a mystery. Citizens and aviation stakeholders now await an official explanation from the Tinubu administration.
