Usyk beats Fury to become Undisputed Heavyweight Champ

In a thrilling contest, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The judges’ scores were 115-112 to Usyk, 114-113 to Fury, and 114-113 to Usyk.

Usyk’s historic win makes him the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years, unifying the WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF world titles. The Ukrainian fighter dedicated his victory to his country, its soldiers, mothers, fathers, and children.

The fight was a back-and-forth contest, with Fury dominating the early rounds and Usyk making a stunning comeback in the later rounds. In the ninth round, Usyk forced a count, leaving Fury reeling.

Despite the loss, Fury believed he won the majority of the rounds, stating, “I thought I won the fight, but the decision went against me.” However, he expressed his desire for a rematch in October, which Usyk is open to.

This victory marks a significant milestone in Usyk’s career, cementing his position as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time.

“I want to thank my team, my family, and my country. This win is for Ukraine and its people,” said Oleksandr Usyk after the fight.

“I thought I won the fight, but the decision went against me. I want a rematch in October,” Tyson Fury stated.
