The lingering leadership crisis which has rocked the Movement for the Survival of the Sovereign State of Biafra(MASSOB) again to the fore yesterday with the open denial of the group’s founder and factional leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike of having a hand in the on-going worldwide protests called by the other faction of the group led by Comrade Uchenna Madu and other pro-Biafra groups that has led to the killing of some citizens by security agents.
Meanwhile, business and commercial activities have since returned in Onitsha and environs after intense protest for the release of Director of Radio Biafra and leader of IPOB, Dr Nnamdi Kanu which rocked the commercial city and its environs to their foundations in the past two days.
Soldiers and other security agents have taken control of movement in the commercial city which restored liberty and thereby prevents the pro-Biafra protesters from continuing with their earlier scheduled one week peaceful demonstration.
Chief Uwazurike in Onitsha yesterday denied the allegation that he was involved in the on-going protests, stating that detained Dr Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous Peoples of Biafra(IPOB) and the Uchenna Madu-led faction of the MASSOB should be held responsible for the protests that caused the death of some persons and the destruction of private and public properties.
Uwazurike who spoke through one of his personal Assistants, Emmanuel Omenka accused Madu group of being sponsored by politicians to drag the image of MASSOB to the mud because they were expelled from MASSOB.
Hear him, ”Uchenna was expelled from MASSOB in 2014 because of anti MASSOB activities. When you don’t follow the organogram of MASSOB we expel you. So they were expelled for not following the organogram….”, he pointed out.
Commenting further Omenka stated that, “Uchenna and his cohorts are being sponsored by politicians to blackmail Uwazurike and MASSOB but we don’t blackmail, we remain non-violent in action and words. Those politicians who said that Biafra died in 1970 are cowards because Biafra still exists”, he stated.
According to him, “The God we serve will still help us actualize a Biafra State without spilling any blood. Those who said MASSOB is now divided got it all wrong because we are one indivisible entity”, he stressed.
