A statement attributed to “White Witch Oluwo Agbaye” has stirred reactions online following a direct criticism of social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM). The comment, shared via X (formerly Twitter), questions both his political neutrality and the legitimacy of a recently conferred traditional title.
In the strongly worded post, the speaker urged VDM not to become a “political instrument,” despite acknowledging his influence as a “Ratel leader.” The message further cast doubt on the chieftaincy title reportedly given to him by the Oluwo of Iwo, arguing that such recognition lacks broader acceptance, even among some indigenes of Iwo.
The statement also referenced traditional hierarchy within Yoruba land, suggesting that more prominent royal institutions such as that of the Ooni of Ife should carry greater authority in matters of cultural recognition. It implied that VDM’s actions and affiliations signal alignment with a political party, specifically the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), though no concrete evidence was provided to support the claim.
Concluding on a dismissive note, the critic advised VDM to “keep that chieftaincy title in your house,” asserting that it holds little to no recognition within Osun State.
The development highlights ongoing tensions surrounding celebrity activism, traditional institutions, and political perceptions in Nigeria’s digital space.
