VeryDarkMan was arrested over multiple petitions — EFCC

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka, VeryDarkMan, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following numerous petitions lodged against him.

The spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest on Monday, May 5, in a statement to BBC News Pidgin.

Oyewale explained that the arrest was linked to allegations of cyberstalking made by several complainants.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” he said.

He further stated that Otse would be granted bail once he meets the required conditions, and that the commission plans to charge him to court soon.

“We will release him when he meets the bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible; we are law-abiding,” Oyewale added.

When asked whether the case involved Guaranty Trust Bank, the EFCC clarified that the petitions came from various individuals and not one specific entity.
