Victims of Nimbo Fulani herdsmen massacre laid to rest [pix]
Today the Igbo Lions, those with heart and soul of Ndigbo assembled at Nimbo in Enugu for the burial of those slaughtered by cattle rustlers.
Mr. Peter Obi and other Igbo dignitaries attended the burial of those massacred by the rampaging cattle rustlers.
In the heat of the crisis, some of our brothers and sisters wanted the Governors of the South East to apply the lex talionis, by equal or severer punishment.
The English word talion (from the Latin talio) means a retaliation authorized by law, in which the punishment corresponds in kind and degree to the injury, also known as eye for an eye.
The demand, however, was downplayed in view of southeasterners resident in the Northern parts of the country.
However, it is so sad that Igbo Governors, Senators, House of Reps did not find enough excuse and reason to pay them this respect.
South East house of Assembly should’ve closed shops and went on solidarity.
Our Governors should’ve shed whatever political lopsided difference and pay this people respect which will send a message of solidarity.
In the days of Okwute as the Chairman South East Governor’s forum, this would’ve been a day for Igbo mourning.
Our politicians that crave attention ,where went thou ?
Igbos are pained and the soul of the departed are asking: Ndiigbo when shall we get it ?
