Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation and two-time Governor of Rivers State, has thrown down the gauntlet against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi, speaking passionately at a political rally organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the Port Harcourt International Airport, declared that he and his loyalists would work tirelessly to stop Tinubu from securing a second term.

The dramatic declaration came as ADC supporters staged a massive welcome rally for Amaechi, who recently aligned himself with opposition forces gearing up to challenge Tinubu’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amaechi did not mince words. “I’m tired of this government,” he said, as the crowd roared. “We will stop Tinubu in 2027, no matter what it takes.”

His comments struck a nerve, as Nigeria battles worsening inflation, power grid instability, and growing public frustration over the rising cost of living.

Amaechi used the opportunity to lash out at what he described as “a government that has failed to keep its promises.”

He expressed deep concern over the state of the economy and shared a personal experience to emphasize his point.

“I spent ₦4 million on electricity bills in one month,” he told the crowd. “If I, as a former minister, can barely manage, what about the poor? This is not governance. This is punishment.”

Amaechi’s fiery remarks were greeted with chants of support from ADC members and disenchanted citizens who had gathered to hear him speak.

Many waved placards reading “Tinubu Must Go” and “2027 is Our Year.”

The former APC chieftain has remained silent on whether he will run for president in 2027, but his recent moves suggest he is preparing for a major political comeback.

His appearance at the ADC rally, coupled with his sharp criticism of Tinubu, indicates a serious shift in alliances ahead of the next elections.

Political analysts believe Amaechi could play a crucial role in building a strong coalition to challenge Tinubu.

His influence in Rivers State and deep political networks across the country make him a force to watch.

This latest development comes amid widespread discontent with Tinubu’s economic reforms.

The fuel subsidy removal and floating of the naira have led to skyrocketing prices, pushing many Nigerians below the poverty line.

Amaechi’s speech has now gone viral, with many Nigerians sharing clips of the rally and hailing him as a voice for the suffering masses.

The presidency is yet to respond to Amaechi’s comments.

As 2027 draws near, one thing is clear Amaechi is back in the political arena, and he’s not holding back.
