JUST IN: El-Rufai Accuses Tinubu of ₦100bn Monthly Loot (VIDEO)

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused President Bola Tinubu of unlawfully withdrawing ₦100 billion monthly from Nigeria’s federation account without legal approval.

El-Rufai made the allegations in a viral interview on Arise TV, which was shared on social media by user @omoluabi1sq.

He claimed the deductions have occurred consistently for over 15 months, totaling more than ₦1.5 trillion.

“Every month, President Bola Tinubu deducts ₦100 billion from the Federation Account. This is unconstitutional and an impeachable offence,” El-Rufai said

The former governor said the funds were being funneled to security agencies. However, he questioned the logic behind it, citing the continued rise in insecurity across the country.

“For the past 12 to 18 months, ₦100 billion is sent to security agencies monthly. Why then is security not improving?” he asked.

El-Rufai stressed that these massive withdrawals lack legislative backing. He said neither the National Assembly nor state assemblies approved the spending.

“There’s no appropriation from the National Assembly or the states. This violates the constitution. It’s an impeachable offence,” he insisted.

He also pointed out that under Tinubu’s government, there have been no major new federal projects launched or completed in nearly two years.

Instead, Tinubu has commissioned projects started by previous administrations, including El-Rufai’s own in Kaduna.

“Tinubu came to Kaduna and commissioned 90% of the projects I initiated. No single federal project has been started or finished by this government,” he claimed.

On insecurity, El-Rufai compared current figures with those under former President Buhari.

He alleged that over 2.2 million Nigerians have been abducted and 615,000 killed, suggesting things have worsened.

He added that Tinubu’s political interests have weakened federal oversight at the state level.

According to him, Tinubu prioritizes party loyalty over accountability.

“Federal oversight is weak because the president wants all governors to join APC,” El-Rufai alleged.
