A Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-propelled car exploded at a NipCo CNG gas filling station in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

The incident reportedly happened today, Thursday, 17 October 2024 as the car was being filled with gas.

In a viral video sighted by Newsband Newspaper, many people were injured in the explosion that completely blew out the rear end of the vehicle.

At the time of filing this report, the injured victims had been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

However, two people who missed the evacuation can be seen walking around with their injuries while concerned onlookers urge them to go to the hospital for treatment.

Onlookers pointed out the blown-out gas tank and concluded that it was fabricated by a welder, suggesting that this could be why the tank exploded.
