VIDEO: Protesters defy security operatives, take over Abuja municipal council area

Published

on

Hundreds of protesters are currently marching on a major road in Kugbo, Asokoro, within the Abuja Municipal Council Area (AMAC).

Security forces have been forced to fire multiple shots of tear gas to disperse hundreds of them.

There was a scene when daring protesters were seen chanting and marching towards the police telling them that they are hungry.

There’s heavy military reinforcements deployed along the road leading to the Presidential Villa.

On the bridge leading into the Three Arms Zone, the military have blocked the entire road with barbed wire.

In addition to the barricade, they have also deployed an Armoured Personnel Carrier with its gun aimed at the protesters.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Abuja had restricted protests to the Moshood Abiola Stadium. While some protesters proceeded to the stadium, others gathered at various locations across the nation’s capital.

Security operatives are struggling to control the crowd of young people who insist they will remain on the streets until their demands for an improved economy are met.
