WAEC is recruiting

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced vacancies for adhoc staff to assist in the conduct of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

In a notice released by the WAEC office in Minna, the council called for applications from qualified individuals to join its examination team.

Interested candidates must possess a minimum of ND/NCE or its equivalent and should not be older than 35 years.

Proficiency in computer applications will be an added advantage.

About WAEC

WAEC is a prominent examination board that conducts assessments in five English-speaking West African countries.

Established in 1952, WAEC has been a cornerstone in determining examinations required for students in these countries and awarding certificates comparable internationally.

WAEC conducts exit examinations in member countries, provides academic assessments and certifications, offers consultancy services to educational institutions, and partners with governments and ministries to deliver standard-based educational services.

WAEC offers various examinations, including the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), a standardized test for secondary school students.

There are two types of WASSCE examinations: one for school candidates, taken in May-June, and another for private candidates, taken in January-February and November-December.

WAEC also offers the Junior Secondary School Certificate for Nigeria and Gambia, the National Primary School and Basic Education Certificate Examinations for Sierra Leone, and the Basic Education Certificate Examinations for Ghana.

WAEC uses a grading system with letters A to F, where A1 is the highest grade. To pass, students need to score at least 75% in a subject.

The least obtainable passing grade is C6, and candidates with D7 or lower are advised to retake the exam.

The council has launched a digital platform for easy access to certificates, allowing users to share and verify certificates online.

This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and security of the certification process.
