WAEC Shuts Down Website After 2025 Results Release

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the temporary shutdown of its result checking portal due to technical issues.
The glitch came just hours after the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
In a statement released on WAEC’s official X handle (formerly Twitter), the exam body said:
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shut down due to technical issues.
However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours. Please bear with us.”
This unexpected development has left thousands of candidates frustrated.
Many took to social media to express their disappointment after waiting months for the release of their results.
Despite the growing complaints, WAEC has yet to reveal the exact cause of the technical glitch.
Still, the council promised that full access to the portal would be restored as quickly as possible.
The WAEC result checking portal is the only official site where candidates can access their results online.
The current downtime has sparked concern among students, parents, and schools preparing for university admissions.
WAEC urged all users to remain patient while technical teams work to fix the problem.
As of now, there is no alternative result-checking method announced.
The 2025 WASSCE results were officially released on Wednesday, with thousands of candidates eager to view their performance.
For updates, candidates are advised to keep an eye on WAEC’s verified social media platforms.
