Warriors Whack Thunder 118-91 In Western Conf Game 2

The NBA champion Golden State Warriors have not lost back- to- back games in 2016.

That streak continued on Wednesday in Oakland, California at the Oracle Arena as the Warriors whacked the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 in a rout.

The Western Conference Finals series is now tied 1-1.

The Thunder players, led by Kevin Durant, walked out onto the floor at Oracle with a swagger after their impressive game one victory over the champs on Monday.

And for the better part of the first half, the Thunder players were very competitive with the Warrior.

That was until the last two minutes when the champions went on an 8-0 run to end the second quarter leading 57-49.

This year’s Most Valuable Player award winner, Stephen Curry led the nasty assault on the Thunder in the third quarter with his usual hot-shooting, scoring 17 points to break the game wide open.

Mr. Curry finished with 28 points, five of them from the three-point range.

Klay Thompson scored 15 points; Draymond Green had 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

While Curry’s heroics were instrumental in the Warriors lopsided game two victory, the contributions of the reserve players helped put the Thunder on their heels in the second half.

The Warriors backup players such as Andre Iguodala, Festus Ezeli, did a number on the Thunder, scoring 50 points for the Warriors.

The Thunder did not get a similar effort from their bench.

“When the bench is playing like that, we are tough to beat,” the Warriors forward Green said.

In fact, Only Kevin Durant (29 points) and Russell Westbrook (16 points, 12 assists) were in double figures for the Thunder.

But what did the Thunder in was the fact that they turned the ball over 16 times and were out-rebounded by the Warriors 45-36.

Durant alone was responsible for half of those turnovers.

Nevertheless, the Thunder players are not hanging their heads after the game two beat-down by the Warriors.

In the playoffs series, the goal of a visiting team is to win a game on the road.

The Thunder achieved that goal with a 1-1 split as they head back home.

The series shifts back to Oklahoma for the next two games where the Warriors will try to win one game to regain home court advantage.
