We Must Explore Oil In Benue, Chad Basin – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says oil exploration in the Benue Trough and the Chad Basin remains a duty that should be accomplish.

This NNPC said, that this is in order to increase the nation’s reserves.

Dr Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing Director of the corporation(NNPC), stated this when the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) visited him in Abuja, to present an award to him on Friday.

According to PETAN the award was in recognition of NNPC’s “aggressive efforts’’ in the search for oil in the Chad Basin.

Mr Ndu Ughamadu, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, in a statement said that PETAN President, Mr Bank-Anthony Okoroafor, made the remark as he presented the awards to the corporation.

It should be noted that the awards were won by the NNPC and its Group Managing Director, Dr Maikanti Baru at the concluded Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, U.S. 

 “This is a commendable effort and we will always identify with it,’’ according to Okoroafor.

While receiving the three awards, Baru thanked PETAN for the awards and added that it will motivate him to work harder.

According to the statement, one of the awards was “2017 Oil Industry Award’’ in recognition of NNPC’s “aggressive exploration in the Benue Trough and the Chad Basin.

While the second award was “Appreciation Award’’ for the corporation’s role in promoting the growth of Nigerian companies and entrepreneurship in the petroleum industry.

“A personal award, the 2017 Oil Industry Leadership Award, went to Baru, as mark of recognition for his leadership and outstanding contribution to the development of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry,’’ the statement concluded.
