Whistleblowers Laud ICPC For Prosecuting DG NBC, Pinnacle Boss

Published

The George Uboh Whistleblowers Network [GUWN] commends the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for initiating prosecution against the Director-General of National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Ish’aq Kawu Modibbo and Chairman of Pinnacle Communications, Mr. Lucky Omoluwa.

Also facing prosecution is the Managing Director of Pinnacle, Mr. Dipo Onifade.

ElombahNews, on Tuesday, reported that the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the DG NBC and Pinnacle Chairman are in trouble over N10 billion Digital Switch-Over fraud.

In a letter dated Wednesday, November 21, 2018, GUWN Chairman, Dr. George Uboh has dragged the affected persons to Senate for the fraud.

In another letter, the GUWN Chairman commended the ICPC for initiating prosecution against Modibbo and Pinnacle Communications leaders.

Uboh recounted how he uncovered same allegations of corruption hence sent letters to Lai Mohammed, the supervising minister of NBC, alerting him of the fraud, then sent a formal petition to the Senate.

To his astonishment, however, Omoluwa/Pinnacle used high stake lobbying to stall the senate petition by writing the Senate President Saraki intimating Saraki that the matter was in court hence the Senate declined to act on the petition.

In his words, he “still cannot comprehend how a suspect under investigation can put up a flimsy excuse that he has gone to court to stop investigation”.

More surprising was that no court order was attached to Omoluwa’s letter to Saraki showing any injunction not to investigate Pinnnacle/Omoluwa”.

The foremost whistleblower, therefore, commended ICPC “for being able to resist pressure from all quarters against the prosecution of Omoluwa whose investigation on several dealings over the years has been staved off by his powerful friends and generals, including but not limited to his dealings with Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame who are currently in prison”.

He also called on law enforcement agencies to investigate Omoluwa’s dealings with the two Governors.

George Uboh Whistleblowers Network Commends ICPC for initiating prosecution against NBC DG Modibbo and Pinnacle Chairman Omoluwa

Dr. George Uboh, Chairman, George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN), commends the ICPC for initiating prosecution against the Director-General of National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Ish’aq Kawu Modibbo; Pinnacle Communications Chairman and MD, Lucky Omoluwa and Dipo Onifade respectively over the alleged Digital Switch Over (DSO) fraudulent practices.

Uboh recounts how he uncovered same allegations of corruption hence sent letters to Lai Mohammed, the supervising minister of NBC, alerting him of the fraud, then sent a formal petition to the Senate. To Uboh’s astonishment, Omoluwa/Pinnalcle used high stake lobbying to stall the senate petition by writing the Senate President Saraki intimating Saraki that the matter was in court hence the Senate declined to act on the petition. Uboh did not and still cannot comprehend how a suspect under investigation can put up a flimsy excuse that he has gone to court to stop investigation, albeit no court order was attached to Omoluwa’s letter to Saraki showing any injunction not to investigate Pinnnacle/Omoluwa.

Uboh thus commends the ICPC for being able to resist pressure from all quarters against the prosecution of Omoluwa whose investigation on several dealings over the years has been staved off by his powerful friends and generals, including but not limited to his dealings with Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame who are currently in prison. Uboh calls on law enforcement agencies to investigate Omoluwa’s dealings with the two Governors, because there is no statute of limitation in Nigeria hence investigation can go back 20 years about same time Omoluwa dealt with these Governors as a major contractor and alleged launderer.
