Why Elon Musk pushed Vivek Ramaswamy out of DOGE

Elon Musk forced Vivek Ramaswamy out of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) because their visions clashed, according to an exclusive report from The Washington Post.

While Ramaswamy aimed to streamline government services through radical cost-cutting measures, Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that Musk, often referred to as a shadow president, had his own technology-driven agenda that ultimately prevailed.

Ramaswamy had championed a plan to eliminate trillions of dollars in government expenditures by shutting down agencies and repealing regulations without congressional involvement.

His vision for DOGE was to operate like a think tank, identifying inefficiencies and recommending which departments to dismantle.

Meanwhile, Musk, who was meant to oversee technology and spending, had a very different idea of how to reshape the administrative state.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Musk’s focus on technology and his close relationship with the president gave him the upper hand in the power struggle.

On Monday, an executive order formally established the Department of Government Efficiency, but instead of reflecting Ramaswamy’s ideas, it aligned with Musk’s vision.

The new DOGE is essentially a rebranding of the U.S. Digital Service, an organization created during the Obama administration to address technical issues, such as those with the Affordable Care Act’s website.

The revamped DOGE will now focus on enhancing government technology and streamlining processes, aligning perfectly with Musk’s objectives.

The executive order granted Musk “full and prompt access to all unclassified agency records, software, and IT systems,” a privilege that many see as a major advantage for the billionaire.

Musk, who has already earned billions from government contracts, now holds a key position in the White House, giving him unparalleled access and influence.

Unlike Ramaswamy’s proposal to keep DOGE outside the federal structure, Musk’s approach integrates it as a small team within the government.

This setup not only aligns with Musk’s preference for a technology-centric operation but also allows him to bypass federal hiring regulations, including Trump’s hiring freeze.

Ramaswamy’s departure also reflects deeper tensions within the department.

Earlier reports suggested that he clashed with rank-and-file members over his aggressive cost-cutting approach.

According to a source close to Trump, Ramaswamy had “worn out his welcome.”

Another insider revealed, “They’ve been wanting Vivek to step aside so Elon could have more control. There was tension, and then they had an opportunity to act—and they took it.”

None of Ramaswamy’s work received recognition in Monday’s executive order, which many see as the final blow in his rivalry with Musk.

While Ramaswamy envisioned DOGE as an independent body for sweeping reforms, Musk’s tech-focused vision clearly won the day.

With Musk now at the helm, DOGE is set to become a streamlined, technology-driven entity, giving him even greater leverage in shaping the administrative state.

In this battle of ideas, Musk’s influence and proximity to power ensured his victory, leaving Ramaswamy’s ambitious plans on the cutting-room floor.
