BREAKING: Trump’s Government Funding Bill fails to secure support

The US House of Representatives has voted against a financing measure supported by Donald Trump this weekend.

According to source, a government shutdown is now more likely afterwards.

38 Republicans reportedly voted against a revised spending package on Thursday night, disobeying the president-elect and failing to secure the two-thirds majority required in the lower chamber of Congress.
The Republican House leadership had already reached a cross-party funding agreement with Democrats.
But Trump blocked it after tech entrepreneur Elon Musk strongly criticized the proposal, according to report.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would find another solution before government funding expires at midnight on Friday, after the package was defeated by 174 votes to 235.
Source disclosed that theTrump-approved replacement bill would have suspended the federal debt ceiling, which sets the maximum amount of money the government can borrow to pay its debts, for two years in exchange for government financing.
Democrats voted against it because they claimed the additional borrowing would be used to lower taxes for the rich.
While Republican rebels protested because they are against increases in government expenditure.

Experts said that another budget deadline in September was the precursor to the current government shutdown.
A six-month funding extension was not approved by Johnson.
The extension, which contained a measure (the SAVE Act) requiring evidence of citizenship to vote, was voted down by the majority of Democrats.
Rather, Congress reportedly reached a bipartisan agreement on a minimal bill that would sustain government funding through December 20.
Johnson promised his Republican conference at the time that they would not have to vote on a budget plan that covered everything except the kitchen sink before the holiday recess in December, when the funding was scheduled to expire.
However, the most recent spending plan was reported to be 1,547 pages long when congressional leaders unveiled its text on Tuesday.
This was three days before legislators were scheduled to take a holiday break.
Reports suggest that government financing would have been extended until March 14 under the bill, which is over three months after Trump is expected to return to the White House.
It contained provisions to prevent hotels and live event venues from using deceptive advertising, federal funds to rebuild a bridge that collapsed in Baltimore, healthcare reforms, the first pay increase for lawmakers since 2009, more than $110 billion (£88 billion) in emergency disaster relief, and $30 billion in aid for farmers, according to source.
Johnson’s abandonment of a more basic spending package drew criticism from several Republicans, who notably denounced left-leaning features that were negotiated to get Democratic support.
Johnson defended the agreement, blaming “acts of God” for the necessity of some of the extra clauses, such as support for farmers and disaster relief.

What next when the government shuts down – Analyst.

Annual funding is necessary for federal agencies to operate.
These agencies must stop doing non-essential tasks if Congress is unable to enact the 12 spending bills that comprise the spending budget.
Law enforcement, air traffic control, in-hospital medical care, and border protection are among the essential services that are still available.
However, a lot of government workers might not get paid.
Benefits verification and card issuance cease while Social Security and Medicare checks are being issued.
While funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is required, a shutdown might affect food stamp payments.
This might cause comparable aid efforts to be delayed.
Other organizations completely cease operations.
National parks close to tourists, the Environmental Protection Agency halts inspections, and the Food and Drug Administration halts food safety inspections.
