Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano finally got the Minister of Sports to commission the meaningless lights he mounted in his ill-conceived flyovers.
Such flyovers are known in Architectural world as Monument of Cement.
Investigations revealed that the Minister of Works, Chief Babatunde Fashola who was earlier contacted for the function declined.
Fashola was said to have called for the file on the project and was shocked to learn that they are being done without authorization from the Federal Government.
Staff of the Ministry advised him not to go.
They said that his presence would be misconstrued as Federal Government support for the project that could lead to the thinking of possible reimbursement afterwards.
No other relevant Minister wants to attend such jamboree.
They saw it as play and should be commissioned by Play Minister which we also call Sports Minister.
That is the analogy that drew Sports Minister to climb that monument and cited it as Mountain climbing.
Fashola said that despite his relationship with the previous government that he insisted, as the Gov of Lagos State to secure permission before working on federal roads.
He wondered why a Governor should build 3 flyovers on a federal road without informing the federal government.
Needless to mention seeking approval for possible reimbursement.
“His people were here the other day, seeking refund for federal roads built by his predecessor.
“He is building his without permission. This is wasting of the funds of the State”, a director in the Ministry said.
From what Obiano is doing, it is now clear that he is executing the project for show and not for any strategic consideration.
He commissioned launching of the beam.
He also commissioned the opening of one lane.
He then commissioned the turning on of the light.
Each of the commissioning cost the state close and above 50 million naira.
Anambra people will not be surprised if he commissions the planting of flowers on the flyover.
Also, the generators that will power the lights, the tanks where fuel for the generator will be stored, among others.
Each of this commissioning takes its own millions.
While commissioning bulbs on a flyover, the road to Amansea is not motorable.
Shortly after UNIZIK, a little lake has formed on the road, yet he prefers window-dressing.
All roads in Anambra State are abandoned, yet he is commissioning bulbs.
Obiano is the biggest mistake of Okwute and makes me to wonder: O gini ka anyi ji isi kote ?
