The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to property owners in Abuja who violated land use regulations, requiring them to pay a ₦5 million penalty.

Announced on Sunday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, the grace period begins on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and applies to properties in key districts such as Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse.

This extension follows the expiration of the initial 30-day deadline issued in September, during which property owners were directed to regularize unauthorized land use conversions, such as turning residential buildings into commercial spaces.

Wike warned that failure to comply within the 14-day window would prompt strict enforcement measures by the FCT Administration.

Affected areas include Gana Street and Usuma Street in Maitama, Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Asokoro, Aminu Kano Crescent and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent in Wuse II, and several streets in Garki I and II, including Ladoke Akintola Boulevard and Gimbiya Street.

Property owners who meet the requirements within the grace period will be issued new title documents, such as Certificates of Occupancy, valid for 99 years.

However, the directive does not cover properties previously revoked for issues like non-development or unpaid ground rent.
