(DDM) — Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has restated his unflinching loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that his political support for the President will remain steadfast until 2031.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the former Rivers State Governor made this known through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, in response to widespread rumours alleging that Wike was nursing a presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Olayinka, speaking on behalf of the minister, described such reports as baseless, mischievous, and politically motivated attempts to sow division within the ruling class and distract from ongoing development efforts in the FCT.
He clarified that Wike’s current focus is to deliver fully on President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by implementing massive infrastructure upgrades, administrative reforms, and policies aimed at restoring Abuja’s master plan.
“The Honourable Minister is fully committed to the success of President Bola Tinubu and his administration,” Olayinka stated.
“Any insinuation that he is working towards a 2027 presidential bid is completely false. His support for the President is total and unwavering until the end of this administration and beyond.”
According to DDM findings, Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister has been marked by several high-impact projects, including the rehabilitation of key roads, expansion of transportation systems, and reforms within the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
Analysts say his latest statement reinforces his image as one of the most vocal defenders of President Tinubu’s leadership among serving ministers, despite previous speculations of political rivalry.
Political observers note that Wike’s declaration of loyalty until 2031 may also be aimed at calming internal tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and cementing his influence in the South-South geopolitical zone, where he remains a dominant political figure.
Supporters within the FCT have also commended his leadership style, describing it as decisive, pragmatic, and aligned with the President’s development vision.
However, some opposition figures argue that Wike’s recent tone reflects a strategic move to consolidate his standing ahead of potential political realignments post-2027.
Despite such interpretations, Wike maintains that his only ambition for now is to make Abuja “a model capital city” that reflects the ideals of good governance, urban excellence, and national unity.
“I am here to serve, not to chase personal ambition,” Wike reportedly said in an earlier briefing.
“My loyalty to President Tinubu is not based on convenience. It is based on shared conviction and commitment to Nigeria’s progress.”
With this latest pronouncement, the FCT Minister has effectively silenced growing speculations about his 2027 plans, while reasserting his role as a frontline enforcer of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the federal level.
