Police authorities in Borno State have arrested a 40-year-old woman named Lydia Aji for allegedly killing her husband with an axe in the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Lawal, who disclosed this through the spokesman of the command, Mr Nahum Kenneth said that the argument leading to the fatal attack stemmed from a dispute over their 13-year-old daughter Rachael’s alleged theft of a goat.
The attack was a severe one which resulted to Lydia’s husband instant death.
“On July 4, 2024, Bulama Mulikabu from Kautikari village in the Chibok Local Government Area reported at the Chibok police station that on the same date, Lydia Aji and her husband Aji Makinta had a violent confrontation. During the fight, Lydia Aji struck her husband on the head with an axe, resulting in his immediate death”, the spokesman of the command said in the statement.
Lawal further explained that the conflict arose after Aji Makinta discovered that their daughter had stolen and sold a goat. This prompted him to demand that Lydia and their daughter leave his house.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover more details surrounding the tragic event.
