The police in Adamawa State have arrested a 75-year-old man, Daniel Jaja, for allegedly attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman in Mukuvinyi village, Hong Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
He said the accused attempted to rape the woman whom he had invited to his house on October 18.
According to the PPRO, the woman cut the suspect’s penis with a razor blade when he forcefully attempted to penetrate her.
Nguroje said the suspect is currently receiving medical treatment in one of the hospitals in the state after the police arrested him on Monday, October 30.
“The suspect, one Daniel Jaja, 75 years old on 18/10/2023 in Mukuvinyi village, Hong local government area was said to have invited his victim to his house and suddenly advanced forcefully to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her until she resisted,” the statement read.
“Investigation so far reveals that the victim while trying to prevent the act used a razor blade and cut the erect penis from penetrating her, leaving him with a serious injury. He is on admission in a hospital receiving treatment.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, who frowned at the ugly incident, has directed the officer in charge of the family support unit of the command to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
“The Police boss equally calls on members of the public particularly those in villages to give timely information to police, especially against criminally minded elements who are in the habit of committing crimes against genders.”
