The lawyer to the real Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], Barrister Emeka Chigozie Emekesiri has affirmed his earlier statement that President Muhammadu Buhari granted IPOB leave to conduct a referendum in the South-East.

Barrister Emekesiri made the affirmation Wednesday morning in a telephone interview with Elombah.com.

He cited the statement made by President Buhari on Al-Jazeera that Igbos from South-East can conduct a referendum once the adequate frameworks are put in place.

Consequently, Emekesiri wrote a letter addressing the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Chief John Nnia Nwodo informing him of an imminent move to conduct a referendum in the South East.

The letter was titled “Memorandum for Activation of Referendum Process for Biafra – Legal Notice to the UN and Nigerian Government” and was published by Elombah.com on Tuesday [see attached].
