DAMATURU, Yobe State — The Yobe State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with theft, violent attacks, and drug-related offences across Bursari, Damaturu, and Nguru Local Government Areas, recovering stolen items and illicit substances in the process, the command has announced.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the arrests were made following intensified efforts to tackle crime and restore public confidence across the state. He noted that the command has been working to ensure the safety and security of residents in the affected areas.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended in separate operations conducted by operatives of the command. Recovered items include stolen property and illegal drugs, which have been taken into custody as evidence.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are being interrogated as investigations continue into their alleged involvement in the crimes. The police have assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
This latest enforcement effort comes as the Yobe State Police Command continues to intensify its crackdown on crime. The command has also been actively involved in community engagement to encourage residents to report suspicious activities and collaborate with law enforcement.
Additionally, the police command has urged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards to prevent them from falling into criminal behaviour.
