The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Yoruba actor Fesogboye Oyewole.
News of his passing first surfaced online after fellow actor Mr Latin shared a brief but emotional tribute on Facebook, writing, “GOOD NIGHT, UNCLE FESO.”
Shortly after, the family of the late actor confirmed the sad development in an official statement, revealing that he passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026. While the cause of death was not disclosed, the family expressed gratitude to Allah for the life he lived and offered prayers for his eternal rest.
Describing him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, the family noted that he was deeply loved and cherished by those closest to him.
The statement read: “With complete submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle, Comrade Baniyamin Fesogboye Oyewole, who returned to his Creator on Friday, 29th May, 2026. We thank Allah for the life He granted him and pray that He forgives his shortcomings, expands his grave, illuminates it with His mercy, and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
The family also disclosed that the late actor would be laid to rest at his residence in Oke Orogbo, Lalupon, Ibadan, Oyo State.
His passing has deepened the atmosphere of grief in Nollywood, coming just a day after reports confirmed the death of another actor, Patrick Okoye. The loss of Fesogboye Oyewole marks the end of an era for many fans of Yoruba cinema, where he made a lasting impact through his performances.
