A 30-year old nurse who seeks divorce from her husband has told the court that her husband is not the biological father of their son.

She gave the testimony at an Agege customary court in Lagos, where she is seeking to be divorced from her estranged husband.

The nurse, Mojisola Ajiboye, yesterday, told an Agege customary court that her husband is not the biological father of her son.

She said she regrets marrying her husband, Mr. Samson Nkanang, 33.

Mojiso who resides at Shiaba Street, Agege, in Lagos State, said : “My husband is irresponsible and has turned me into a punching bag.

I am no longer interested in the union; I want the loveless marriage dissolved.”

She told the court that they are married for over seven years, the man she married is not the biological father of their son.

“I was impregnated by another man when my husband travelled on an official trip,”

Continuing she said, “although I registered the child’s birth in the respondent’s name, he is not the father of my son.”

She urged the court to dissolve the marriage so that they can go their separate ways.

She also alleged that her husband is temperamental and always beat her whenever they have misunderstanding.

The husband, Samson in his own submission stated that he still loves the wife. He also admitted beating the wife as alleged.

He told the court that he was on an official trip for two months in Akwa Ibom State when his wife told him she was pregnant.

“On my return, I even had sexual intercourse with her several times in order for her private part to be prepared for childbirth, according to the doctor’s prescription” he said.

“So I am amazed now that she claims I am not the biological father of my child.”

The respondent said that on the child’s dedication day, he did all the necessary things as a father and even named the child.

“Even my family and the petitioner’s family were there”

Mr. Samson pleaded with the court, that the marriage not be dissolved, saying “I am still in love with my wife.’’

The court’s President, Mr. Philip Williams, advised the estranged couple to maintain peace and order.

He thereafter, referred the couple to forensic centre to affirm the biological status of the child.

The case was deferred indefinitely.
