Zamfara Govt partners NGOs in its fight against insecurity
The Zamfara State Government on Monday said that it would partner credible Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the fight against insecurity in the state.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Bello Matawalle on Directorate of NGOs, Hajiya Aslam Aliyu, disclosed this in Gusau while meeting with representatives of the NGOs in the state.
According to her, the Matawalle-led administration is committed to providing lasting solutions to the dwindling security challenges facing the state.
She said that the meeting was part of the directorate’s efforts to complement the Federal and state governments as well as security agencies in tackling the challenges.
“You know, there was an allegation that some foreign NGOs working in the state are hiding under insecurity to access abundant mineral and natural resources.
“As NGOs, you have greater role to play in this regard. I want you to be providing us useful information about the activities of such suspicious NGOs,” Aliyu added.
Speaking on behalf of the NGOs working in the state, Alhaji Abba Dankande commended the directorate for organising the meeting.
He assured the state of the continued support and cooperation of the NGOs toward achieving lasting peace in the state.
Dankande who is the Chairman of Global Network for Islamic Justice, an NGO said, “We will continue to monitor any foreign NGO working in the state.
“We promise to report those with suspicious activities to the government and the security agencies.”(NAN)
