Over 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders under the aegis of the Northern Muslim Intellectual Forum have reportedly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement followed a meeting involving Islamic scholars, intellectuals, religious leaders and other stakeholders from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The development was announced in a statement issued by the media office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari, on Saturday.
The meeting, held in Jigawa State, focused on the security, socio-economic and developmental challenges confronting Northern Nigeria.
The gathering was attended by six northern governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaka Ramma.

According to the statement, the gathering attracted approximately 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders, including sheikhs, imams, Huffaz of the Qur’an and Islamic preachers.
The participants reviewed developments across Northern Nigeria, with particular focus on security, infrastructure and economic development.

It further urged voters to support Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“The forum also passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and urged Nigerians, particularly Northerners, to support his re-election and vote for him and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming elections,” the statement added.
