2027: Tinubu May Get Less Than 30% Northern Votes— Zainab Galadima Warns

Zainab Galadima, daughter of NNPP chieftain Buba Galadima, has warned that President Bola Tinubu may secure less than 30% of the northern vote in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Channels TV journalist Seun Okinbaloye, Zainab declared that Tinubu faces the “toughest political battle of his life.”

She cited growing public discontent across northern Nigeria and an emboldened opposition as key reasons why the president’s re-election bid could collapse in the region.

“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews from northerners about Tinubu. It’s really bad,” she said. “He may get, maybe, 30 percent or less.”

Zainab believes the situation will worsen compared to the 2023 elections, stating, “The 2027 election will be Tinubu’s toughest.

The opposition may not have a clear direction yet, but everyone can see that we must sit up.”

She previously worked as a technical assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in former President Buhari’s administration.

Her political insight draws from experience and strong connections in Nigeria’s northern bloc.

Zainab also expressed support for the emerging opposition coalition, describing it as a “step forward for Nigerian democracy.”

She urged Nigerians to rally behind it as the country struggles with economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures.

“The coalition deserves our support,” she said. “Anyone concerned about Nigeria’s future should take it seriously.”

Last week, the coalition adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform and unveiled a new leadership structure to prepare for the 2027 polls.

The coalition includes key political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai.

Together, they aim to present a unified front to unseat Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the next presidential election.

With public frustration growing and prominent power brokers joining the opposition, Zainab warned that Tinubu may no longer enjoy the northern support that helped secure his 2023 victory.
