2027: ‘We’re Not Fixated on Zoning’ — ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the zoning system ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Instead, the party is leading efforts to register a new mega-coalition known as the African Democratic Alliance (ADA).

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, ADC interim spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said the party believes zoning has failed to serve Nigerians.

According to him, zoning fuels division and weakens the search for competent leadership.

Instead of continuing with outdated political arrangements, the ADC wants to rebuild Nigeria through inclusive and people-driven governance.

“We are not just in this race to compete,” Abdullahi said. “We are here to win across the board.”

Furthermore, he said the new ADA platform will unite progressive voices who feel excluded by the ruling APC and the weakened PDP.

The group aims to field candidates for president, governors, lawmakers, and local government officials.

Moreover, Abdullahi stressed that the ADA isn’t looking to be a backup plan for old political elites.

“This isn’t about Atiku or any recycled politician,” he stated. “We’re building for the future, not the past.”

The registration process with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is already underway.

Once approved, the ADA will serve as a national platform that brings credible candidates under one umbrella.

Meanwhile, the ADC’s outreach is gaining momentum. Massive rallies in Ekiti and Osun have drawn thousands of supporters.

Abdullahi described the crowds as “organic,” highlighting that the movement is growing beyond party lines.

Importantly, he emphasized that the coalition won’t be built in luxury hotels. “We’re building it from the ground up in town halls, in streets, and with real people,” he said.

In addition, the party is scouting for fresh faces and youth leaders willing to lead with integrity.

“We’re not recruiting the people who broke the system,” Abdullahi said. “We want those ready to fix it.”

He also revealed that the party would soon unveil its national leadership team. Alongside that, the ADA will release a bold new manifesto crafted from public input.

Ultimately, the ADC believes Nigeria is ready for a political alternative that truly listens and delivers.

With the ADA, they are betting on a movement, not just a campaign.
