The Governing Council of Federal University Lokoja has approved the dismissal of four randy lecturers over allegations of examination malpractices and sexual misconduct.
NewsBand gathered that the decision was reached during the council’s second meeting on Thursday, following a holistic investigation into the accusations that surfaced last year.
The university’s council under the leadership of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, commended the efforts of the university’s management for adhering to due process throughout the investigation.
The council, however, made it clear that any form of unethical behaviour would not be condoned at the institution, stressing its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the university.
The council noted that such behaviour as exhibited by the dismissed lecturers was highly prohibited in the academic environment, vowing to take further action if necessary.
They also called on the university management to address other pending misconduct cases immediately, particularly a high-profile matter in the Faculty of Science that has garnered significant media attention.
The council maintained that no allegation of wrongdoing in the institution would be ignored or swept under the carpet.
It also issued a stern warning to staff and faculty members of the institution to adhere to ethical standard.
To ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all, the Council also warned students to speak out if they experience any form of harassment or exploitation.
