Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has assessed and scored himself high, and declared that he has done well in his nearly two and half years as the state’s helmsman.
According to him, his administration has achieved a lot within the period under review and admitted that his achievements were made possible because of the support of his wife, Ebelechukwu, Anambra people and donor agencies.
He made this assertion at the event marking the global hand washing day, where his wife, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano was honoured as the Water Sanitation and Hygiene Ambassador by the European Union and UNICEF.
The governor noted that there was much still to be done in the state, stating that his government was not relenting in ensuring that all sectors were given attention. He commended the European Union and the UNICEF, as well as other donor agencies for their assistance to the state, especially in areas of water supply, sanitation, healthcare and infrastructure.
Messrs Mitchell Arion and Aondo Anom, of EU and UNICEF respectively had commended the governor for contributing his counterpart funds to projects in the state.
They said that was an indication of the governor’s commitment in the welfare of his people.
Mrs/ Obiano in her brief remark, said she was overwhelmed by the special recognition and noted that the state government has really no hand in the activities of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, but was quick to acknowledge the conducive atmosphere made possible by the support of Gov Obiano’s administration.
She said she had built two bedrooms flat each for 10 indigent widows across the state.
“I have also provided motorized boreholes in markets across communities in the state, and have commenced another 16 motorized boreholes in educational institutions in the state to ensure water supply”, Mrs. Obiano stated.
