Soldiers and gunmen engaged in combat in two villages within the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday morning, allegedly resulting in numerous fatalities.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang lifted the area’s 24-hour curfew, which led to the altercation.

Mutfwang had stated that the curfew should be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. after security was improved.

According to sources who spoke with our journalist, during the fighting at Satguru and Tyop villages, some soldiers were injured and roughly thirty militants were killed.

“The incident occurred between 7 to 7:30 am when the gunmen came in their numbers and started attacking some communities along Gindri road,” a security official who asked to remain anonymous told DDM News. The military were quickly notified and moved to the scene.

“More than 50 gunmen with ammunition and weapons were taken into custody, with about 30 of them being murdered. Equal injuries were sustained by four servicemen.

People in the region were still afraid, according to a second source who confirmed the incident to DDM News while pleading for anonymity.
