Nwifuru, a Nigerian governor, splashes scholarship on indigenous Law graduates

A Nigerian governor from the South East geopolitical zone, His Excellency Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, dubbed the education friendly Governor of Ebonyi State, has splashed scholarship on all indigenous Law graduates, to the value of three hundred thousand Naira (over two hundred dollars).

This was disclosed in an undated public service announcement signed by the Hon. Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Education Ebonyi State, Prof. Amari Omaha, SAN, and seen by Diaspora Digital Media correspondent.

Prof. Omaha notified the general public as well as their wards and all Law graduates of Ebonyi State origin admitted to any of the campuses of the Nigerian Law School for the 2023/2024 academic session that they are required to proceed immediately to the Ministry of Tertiary Education Centenary City, Abakaliki, the state capital, to access the N300,000 partial scholarship grant approved by Governor Nwifuru.

According to Omaha, the indigenous Law graduates are required to come with the following documents to enable them claim their gift:

(1) Certificate of nativity authenticated by their LGA Chairman or by their traditional ruler.

(2) Evidence of LL.B graduation i.e their LLB Certificate or Statement of result.

(3) Evidence of admission to the Nigerian Law School.

(4) Evidence of posting to any of the campuses of the Nigeria Law School.

(5) Their account details.

Omaha warned that payment shall he on first come, first served basis.

About Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru

According to data obtained from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Francis Ogbonna Erishi Nwifuru born on 25th February 1975, is a politician, builder, lawyer and entrepreneur.

He previously served as speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from June 2015 to May 2023.

He hails from Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State.

Nwifuru represented Izzi West constituency at the Ebonyi State legislature between 2011 and 2023.

He was the Deputy Chief Whip of the 4th Ebonyi State House of Assembly (2011–2015).

During that period, he served as chairman Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Lands, Survey, Urban Development and Environment.

His journey into the State House of Assembly was under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but he later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020.

Ogbonna Nwifuru enrolled into Oferekpe Agbaja Community Primary School in the year 1991.

His continued persistence for acquisition of knowledge, reportedly took him to Community Secondary School, Nwofe Agbaja in the year 1999.

He attended school only at intervals, joining his brothers to rear their father’s numerous cattle.

Upon concluding his post-primary education, Ogbonna was christened ‘Francis’ after baptism as a Catholic.

He enrolled into Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, to study Building technology and Wood Work.

Nwifuru received a master’s degree in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Salford University, Manchester, United Kingdom in June 2021.
