North under daily siege by bandits, kidnappers, says group

Stakeholders in the north of the country say that the region may not recover from the siege it faces from insurgents, bandits and kidnappers in a hundred years even if the conflicts stops today, elombah.com has said.

According to them, an interested group under the auspices of Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development, the siege which they say happens on daily basis has totally grounded educational, economic and socio-political activities.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, the group said that unless President Muhammadu Buhari takes proactive steps by overhauling the security architecture, it would take at least 100 years for the devastation to be remedied and the North becoming relevant again in the scheme of things.
