On the 9th of March, President Mohammadu Buhari performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Eastern Narrow Gauge Railway Project with new extensions and facilities, and construction of Bonny Deep-Sea Port and Railway Industrial park, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Buhari while performing the groundbreaking ceremony said the Eastern railway gauge will reopen economic activities in the region.
However, the Eastern railway gauge when completed, the 1,443-kilometer Port Harcourt – Maiduguri Rail Line will connect Rivers, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Borno states all by rail.
