Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dr Ahmad Abubakar Gumi is in Abeokuta and currently in a close door meeting with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over the deteriorating security situation in the country.
Recall that Sheik Gumi came under heavy attack after he urged the administration of president Mohammadu Buhari to grant blanket amnesty to terror bandits that have killed and abducted hundreds of innocent civilians for ransom.
He argued that if Niger Delta militants could be granted amnesty, the same should be extended to terror bandits in the northern region of Nigeria.
In the last two months, Sheik Gumi has visited Zamfara forest and Niger too negotiating with the armed bandits on behalf of the government.
