Don tasks FG on entrepreneur programme for youths

Prof. Charles Ayo, Vice-Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has advised the Federal Government to engage youths in entrepreneur programme to make them self-reliant.

The vice-chancellor gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sango-Ota, Ogun on Thursday.

He attributed human trafficking and other social vices to fallout of economic situation, which he said could be addressed by engaging youths in entrepreneur development programmes.

Ayo called on the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for youths and the informal sector to thrive by providing all the necessary social amenities.

“Let there be stable power supply for tailors, welders and electricians to work, as the cost of providing electricity has gone beyond their reach,” he said.

The don said that human trafficking, banditry, kidnapping and terrorism should be collectively addressed.

Ayo, also a former Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, said Nigerians that the Federal Government had successfully repatriated from other countries, would still go back until the economy of the country improves.

The don said that the economy of countries like America and U.S. had continued to grow, regardless of the pandemic due to the enabling environment provided for the citizens.

The vice-chancellor called on the Federal Government to provide palliative measures for business owners to create more job opportunities for them.
