Lions beat Eagles in int’l friendly [plus other matches’ updates]

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly game played on Friday in Austria.

The Super Eagles’ camp experienced a new impetus yesterday when Ahmed Musa and Europe’s rave of the moment, Paul Onuachu, arrived in the team’s Hilton Garden Inn Wiener Neustadt Osterreich, Austria lodge.

But Cameroon’s Zambo Anguissa scored in the 37th minute to end the game 1-0.

Antonio Conceição Oliviera became the first Cameroon coach to defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 21-years following Cameroon’s 1-0 win tonight in Austria.

The Eagles had aimed to extend the unbeaten record against Cameroon.

The Nigeria team held a 6-game unbeaten run against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon but came crashing today.

Nigeria hoped for back-to-back friendlies against Cameroon today and Tuesday.

The Super Eagles squad saw new entrants like goalkeeper John Noble who is substitute to Maduka Okoye in tonight’s international friendly against the Indomitable Lions.

In other international friendly games played on Friday, Finland lost 0-1 to Estonia, while Kosovo defeated Malta 2-1.

Northern Macedonia thrashed Kazakhstan 4-0 while Spain and Portugal settled for a goalless draw.

Hungary overpowered Cyprus 1-0 and Faroe Islands fell to visiting Iceland 0-1.

Meanwhile, it was goal galore in the match between Italy and Czech Republic, and between Slovenia and Gibraltar.

While Italy were 4-0 superior to Czech Republic, Slovenia harvested six goals at Gibraltar’s expense.
