Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed disciple of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has somewhat proven to be a hard nut to crack for the leadership of the separatist movement as the latter has boxed the former to a helpless corner and assume complete control of the group’s structure.
The Finland-based activist who was appointed to replace Kanu as radio anchorman following the re-arrest of the IPOB leader by president Muhammadu Buhari led administration was fired a week after his appointment. The leadership of the movement in a statement said the Ebonyi born politician was dismissed after he failed to align to the terms and conditions that was presented to him.
The manner at which the leadership of IPOB booted Simon Ekpa out from Radio Biafra London however succeeded in dividing the fan base of the movement.
Thousands fell to the side of Ekpa while others who are undecided remained on the side of IPOB’s leadership.
Though, Ekpa had accused some cabals in IPOB’s DOS of being responsible for his removal and subsequent character assassination launched against his person.
Out to have his own pound of flesh, Simon Ekpa has been using his social media handles to counter and attack the leadership of IPOB, describing them as criminals and DSS agents who are out to throw spanner in the works.
He said the leadership of the group is money driven, weak, confused and compromised and cannot longer speak for the followers of the movement.
A source in the movement who spoke with NewsBand under the condition of anonymity said that Ekpa has won the battle against the leadership of the group as the Finland based activist has assume control of the Eastern Security Network, the armed wing of the movement.
“As we speak, IPOB leadership has no control over the boys again. ESN is in the pocket of Simon. He now gives them order on what to do. There is an internal confusion in DOS on how to handle the disturbing situation and the influence of Ekpa who has relegated them to being mere spectators”
Ekpa endless attacks and lies against DOS caused by the leadership untruthfulness and inconsistency.
Meanwhile, Ekpa who understands the game of propaganda succeeded in using his social media handles, especially his Facebook page to sway IPOB members by telling subtle lies against the leadership of IPOB following their untruthfulness and inconsistent disposition.
The leadership on several occasions issued some critical statements which they later defaulted. Like the cancellation of the Monday sit at home, suspension of one week sit at home prior to Anambra November 6 Governorship election and others.
Ekpa who is referred as master of fake news bounced on some of these fault lines to deceive and sway the members of the group from the authority of the DOS.
