France Opens Euro 2016 Bid With 2-1 Win Over Romania

The goal the country has been waiting for came from Giroud as he headed home France’s opener from Payet’s cross, outjumping Tătăruşanu in 13th minute of second half.

Giroud made it eight goals in six international starts.

France’s joy was short-lived, however, as Romania equalised from the spot.

Stancu slotted home from the penalty spot after a clumsy foul as Patrice Evra gave away the first penalty of EURO 2016 .

Bogdan Stancu made sure he didn’t miss.

And then France struck again at the 88th minute. A sensational strike from Dimitri Payet.

Only he is capable of that as he sweeps a left footed curler into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Payet is the third West Ham player to score at the EUROs after Geoff Hurst (ENG) in 1968 and Trevor Brooking (ENG) in 1980.

Details will follow later…
