FC Ifeanyi Ubah qualifies for 2019 NPFL Super Six in grand style

FC Ifeanyi Ubah, an outstanding privately own football club on Sunday, defeated Akwa United FC by 2 goals to 1 at Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium Nnewi to qualify for the 2019 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Super Six.

A brilliant finishing by Alaekwe Chijioke at the 30th minute of the encounter gave the home team popularly known as Anambra Warriors an early lead.

Christian Nnaji further extended FCIU’s lead with a second goal at the 79th minute.

However, the visiting team scored a consoling goal at the 87th minute but that wasn’t enough to stop the Anambra Warriors from booking a place in the Super Six.

Both the host and visiting teams qualified.

The victory of Anambra Warriors was followed by massive jubilation by fans and players who were later celebrated by the Club represented by its President Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and Chairman Mr. Chukwuma Ubah.

FCIU is the only privately owned football club in the country that has defied the odds to maintain a commendable presence in the League.

Sunday’s Match was preceeded by a minute silence observed in honour of one of veteran coaches in NPFL, Solomon Ogbeide who died on Monday.

Mr Ogbeide reportedly suffered from low blood pressure.
