Lorji Joint Vigilante Group in Imo State

The Imo State Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji, on Sunday, October 3, 2022, at Lorji, in Aboh Mbaise LGA, inaugurated the Lorji Joint Vigilante Group and swore-in officers of the group.

Present at the historic event were leaders and citizens of the two autonomous communities at Lorji, including HRH Eze Stephen Nwabueze Ugorji, Orji Ukwu 1 of Lorji Nwekeukwu Autonomous Community.

The 12-member squad has a central command, with two Supervisors – one for each autonomous community.

Monday Ukaegbu, also known as “Iron,” is the Supervising Officer for Lorji Autonomous Community, while Kingsley Onyenwe is the Supervising Officer for Lorji Nwekeukwu Autonomous Community.

Each officer will be paid 20,000 Naira per month, while the supervisors will be paid 25,000 per month.

There is now a search for a general commander for the joint force. Any retired military personnel or retired Police personnel from Lorji, who is interested in being considered for the Commander position may contact either of the Supervisors.

Virtually all uniforms and equipment for the joint force so far, including an office at Ekeukwu Lorji, were provided courtesy of the personal funds of the Commissioner, who hails from the community.

The four walkie talkies distributed at the inaugural event were donated by Navy Captain George Alily (retired). Read more.
