Ifeanyi Ubah football competition moves to semifinals

The Ifeanyi Ubah Football Academy (IUFA) Football Academy soccer competition for Nnewi North going on at Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium, Nnewi, has reached semifinals stage after Nnewichi Ward 2 beat Umudim Ward 1 team 5-4 on penalties to advance to semifinals.

As the competition, under the sponsorship of the Senator representing Anambra South and Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the 2023 Anambra South senatorial election, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, progresses, Nnewichi Ward 2 team, on Saturday, moved to the Semi-finals of the tournament after defeating Umudim Ward 1 team as the match ended goalless at Full Time.

In his comments after the keenly contested game, Senator Ubah commended both teams for their brilliance.

He further applauded the winning team for qualifying for the next round and urged them to remain focused.

The Anambra South Senator also commended the players that made the Match Golden list for their skillful display.

The players that made the Match Golden list include; Chukwumezie Kelvin Igbokwe (09083803274), Ebuka Obidike (08066618144), Ozioma Ochieze (08067802089), Prince Benjamin (09132029659), Eze Kosisochukwu (09063232990), Dennis Chukwuebuka (07039147267), Ugwu Somtoo (08136447663), and Odoh Chisom Stanley (08142306730).

The competition, which is being held in all the seven Local Government Areas of Anambra South, is meant to discover, empower and develop young talents.

According to a press statement earlier released by the management of Ifeanyi Ubah Football Academy, in addition to achieving the aforementioned aims, the competition finalists shall be rewarded with cash, football kits and all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai.

The statement further revealed that other participants in the tournament shall receive various consolation prizes including cash and football kits. Read more.
